WisDOT: traffic fatalities increased in 2015

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) observed that traffic fatalities in the state increased by over 16 percent compared to the record last year.

WisDOT stated that in this past September alone, 63 people were killed in road accidents. From January to September of this year, there were 424 traffic deaths recorded in the state. In the total number recorded since the beginning of 2015, 68 of the people killed were motorcycle drivers, 40 were pedestrians, 13 were bicycle operators, and 2 were motorcycle passengers. David Pabst of the Bureau of Transportation said that the alarming increase in deaths has been concentrated in pedestrian and bicycle accidents in the state this year. He urges Wisconsin drivers to be more aware of their surroundings and to share the road with pedestrians and individuals driving smaller vehicles.
