Rap artist MC Supreme killed in suspected drunk driving crash

Dewayne Lawrence Coleman, better known as the American rap artist MC Supreme, was killed in Malibu when his vehicle was crashed into by a suspected intoxicated driver, a Rolling Stone article reported on June 15.

According to reports, Coleman, 47, and an unnamed woman were inside his vehicle, which was parked on the shoulder of the California Pacific Coast Highway. The rapper’s vehicle was struck by a pickup truck operated by Philip Thomas Torres II. Coleman was pronounced dead at the crash scene, while the woman inside his vehicle reportedly sustained “moderate injuries.” Though authorities are investigating the fatal crash, they arrested Torres, who was also injured in the crash, after he was suspected of intoxication. Coleman was well known for his 1990 hit, “Black in America.”
