Menomonie officers hurt in hit-and-run accident

According to an article published on September 4 by abc18, two Menomonie police were injured while on duty after they were involved in a hit-and-run accident.

On Tuesday, September 2, on-duty Officers Daniel Westlund and Maloree Switlick were conducting a patrol while on bicycle at a corner of 6th Street East when they were struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the accident. Westlund and Switlick were both treated at a nearby hospital for injuries that were considered to be non-life threatening. Authorities later arrested and charged Jacob Bruce for failing to stop at the accident scene and for driving while intoxicated. Bruce was easily traced as Officer Switlick saw the license plate of the vehicle that struck them.

Unfortunately, drunk drivers pose a serious threat to everyone on the road, and if you or someone you love has been injured in an accident with a drunk driver, legal help is available.
