Saab convertibles recalled for defective seat belts

At least 28,789 Saab vehicles are being recalled by General Motors (GM) to fix a potential seat belt defect that may put drivers in danger of serious injury.

According to reports, the seatbelt retractors installed in the 2004-2011 Saab convertibles may not be durable enough to withstand strong impacts during car accident. A spokesperson at GM mentioned that this defect could put drivers at an enhanced risk of injury during car accidents.

Thus far, as far as GM knows, there have not been any injuries related to this particular defect. GM dealers will repair the convertibles by installing new retractors for free.
