New models of Chevrolet Sonic cars recalled

The latest models of Chevrolet Sonic small cars were voluntarily recalled by General Motors Co due to a potential defect that may potentially set the car on fire if the fuel tank becomes detached, according to a Reuters’ article published on October 7.

At least 1,658 Sonic 2013-2014 small cars were affected by an defective strap welds that hold the fuel tank. According to the automaker giant, the fuel tank may fall if the strap brackets come off and the car may catch fire if the fuel tank is pierced and ignites.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of people sustaining injuries in accidents involving the recalled Sonics. The potential defect will be addressed by inspecting and improving the strap brackets of the recalled cars for free.
