Ford volunteers to repair flaws in 467,000 Taurus and Mercury Sable cars

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently stopped its investigation of defective speed control cables on 467,000 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable cars after Ford. The investigation, which was begun in October last year, ended after the U.S. auto manufacturer assured the public on June 21 that it will inspect and repair all known defects in affected cars.

NHTSA reports show that drivers are having problems with the brake system of 2000-03 Ford Taurus and Sable cars equipped with Duratec engines because of easily damaged speed control wiring. According to some drivers, they were finding it hard to slow down when they stepped on their pedal brakes and had to resort to shifting into neutral gear or stop their engines.
