Deputy killed in two-car collision on I-43

A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 43 took the life of a Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy on Tuesday while he was on duty.

According to law enforcement officials, the accident took place just after noon when the deputy was traveling in the sheriff’s truck that is used to help disabled motorists. He collided with a tow truck that was parked on the shoulder of the highway.

It is unknown what caused the collision,  but the deputy was extricated from the vehicle by emergency crews and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The tow truck driver was not injured in the accident.

Our condolences are with the friends, family, and coworkers of the deputy at this time.
