Rain washes road away, three killed

Heavy rain washed away part of County Highway M near Neillsville last week, leading to the deaths of three people whose cars fell into a ditch. The rain created a ditch 50 feet wide and 12-15 feet deep in the middle of the road.

A Milwaukee couple was killed instantly when their pickup truck fell into the ditch. The third victim was a 24 year-old woman from Thor whose car entered the washed out area and fell on top of the truck.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the accidents. According to the Journal Sentinel, the area received one to three inches of rain and four inches throughout the week.
