Portage man injured in pedestrian accident

A Portage man was taken to the hospital in Madison after being injured in a pedestrian accident.

The accident occurred at 6:44 p.m. as the man crossed New Piney Road and was struck by a vehicle. He was almost struck by two more vehicles after he was initially hit because he was laying in the road and unable to move.

The pedestrian suffered injuries to his leg, shoulder and back, but was reportedly in fair condition after being transported to the hospital. Alcohol may be considered as a factor in the accident, but the pedestrian may also be cited for not following traffic signs.
