Fire officials in Wisconsin are urging the importance of wearing seat belts because they are very important if a person is involved in an accident.
The few seconds that it takes to buckle up can save a person’s life and officials are trying to get this message across to everyone. Officials said that 12,000 people are killed each year in rollover accidents due to the fact that they are not wearing seat belts.
Some residents in the area have suggested public safety classes so that people can hear first hand the alarming statistics of people who do not wear seat belts. If a person does not wear a seat belt and is involved in an accident, they are four times more likely to be killed. In Wisconsin, 74 percent of people wear seat belts.
