Hundreds of thousands of vehicles with potential airbag malfunction recalled

Multinational automaker company Honda Motors Co. recalled 374,000 vehicles due to possible airbag malfunction caused by an electrical problem, according to a Monday, September 23 report.

In the recall, at least 318,000 Honda Odyssey 2003-2004 model and 56,000 Honda Acura MDX SUVs 2003 had an electrical interference that affects its supplemental restraint system or SRS. The electrical issue may unexpectedly launch the airbags of the recalled vehicles.

Though there were no reports of accidents linked to the recalled vehicles, numerous complaints where the airbags unintentionally launched reached Honda’s office in the past months. The automaker said they will start addressing the problem this October by installing an electrical noise filter near the SRS of the recalled vehicles.
