Snow storm in Wisconsin causes school, road closures

Posted on Wednesday, February 29th, 2012 at 4:42 pm

A snow storm in northern and central Wisconsin has caused the closure of many school districts and highways in the area.

According to officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, motorists are urged to steer clear of the highways. “I guess since we’ve had such an easy winter, this one sticks out,” said Dan Clark, meteorological technician with the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

Some areas received only two inches, while other areas received up to 18 inches of snow. More snow fall is expected throughout the day. With the snow came heavy winds that knocked over power lines in wooded Wisconsin areas. Nearly 14,000 people lost power in the storm and officials are working on it at this time.
