The number of fatal car accidents that occurred in 2011 was released in a report from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

In Sheboygan County in 2011, there were seven fatal car accidents that occurred on the roadways. Of these accidents, three of them were alcohol-related and one was a pedestrian hit-and-run accident.

According to officials, the number of alcohol related crashes is usually 50 percent of the total fatal wrecks. Although this year’s number is lower, officials are not happy with it because drunk driving crashes can be prevented by taking a cab home instead. Statewide there were 567 fatal crashes.
