Police are currently investigating a pedestrian accident that occurred in Racine and left one woman dead.

According to police, the accident occurred as the 75-year-old woman was crossing the street at an intersection and was struck by a 51-year-old driver. Police have determined that the woman was walking against the red light when she was struck.

When police arrived at the  scene, she was transported to Wheaton Franciscan- All Saints Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The man driving the pickup truck stated that he was unable to avoid the accident. No citations have been given due to the pending investigation.
