Starting July1, the Wisconsin law on drunk driving became much tougher. The mayor released a statement saying that these laws are a step in the direction to fight drunk driving and prevent people from being injured and killed in drunk driving accidents.

The new laws have changed the results of people who get their fourth OWI because it will be a felony if they happen within five years of each other.

First offense OWI will now be a misdemeanor if their is a child under 16 in the car. Ignition interlocks will be placed in cars of repeat offenders or first time offenders have a blood alcohol level of higher that  0.15.
